Sieze Upon the Midnight

~ Seize Upon the Midnight ~

From the terrace
I beseech the moon
to seize upon the midnight
to call upon her empire
of glistening stars
and whispering breezes
for her to align the planets
and for Fate and Destiny to dance
across moonbeams and the Milky Way
to illuminate the path of hearts in waiting

the time is almost upon us again
the tantalizing allure of midnight
that breath of space
between yesterday and tomorrow
between hope and resignation
where a million and one possibilities
wait on the edge of their seats
to fulfill the prophecy of the moment

but the moon does no such thing
and hides behind her shadow
counting down the seconds
until it is too late again

her empire falls
and I am alone
in the quiet darkness
of another midnight
slipping away.

  1. I decided last night, when the moon fades away, the stars will emerge to compensate, but after reading this, I see I judged in haste, and erred in the process. The moon merely disguised itself, and as you said, hid in shadows, and those stars were always there. I just never made an effort to find them, and name them, and on a real good night, even claim one for my own, or to share.

Great poem here, Dahlia. You are are onto something significant.

  2. Love it, Dollface! It was a shame I did not get to see the blood moon yesterday for it was rainy here.
