Peace Out

~ Peace Out ~

I may not be a man, but you're not one either
your integrity wasn't worth a dime
your aura was toxic, now I need a breather
you have failed me for the last time

Your integrity wasn't worth a dime
Mr. Bigshot, I'm no simple lass
you have failed me for the last time
I rock, and I'm rolling you out on your ass

Mr. Bigshot, I'm no simple lass
don't think you're the stronger one
I rock, and I'm rolling you out on your ass
peace out, mic drop, I'm done

Don't think you're the stronger one
your aura was toxic, now I need a breather
peace out, mic drop, I'm done
I may not be a man, but you're not one either.

Love and Butterflies

Shy smiles, butterflies
hidden grins, it feels so right
distance closing
the dance begins

show me a kiss
show me your dreams
if you look, you will find me there
if you look, I'm right here

beneath a protected heart
special moments lay in waiting
the first love after heartache
is the strongest of them all

shy smiles, butterflies
a hopeful glance, taking a chance
you cannot have forever
until you first share a moment

share a moment with me.

Inside the Whisper of a Weeping Willow

~Inside the Whisper of a Weeping Willow ~

Under the canopy of a weeping willow
I am cocooned in solitude
alone with death, though surrounded by life
the leaves whisper in the gentle breeze
as I seek some source of light

ashes mix with earth
watered by my tears
fragile lives suspended in time
as a tide of memories engulfs me
I am lost without your light

with a collective bow
the grove defers to a higher source
solitude turns to solace
and within the grace of the quiet trees
you become the light.

Avenue of the Moon

~ Avenue of the Moon ~

Yesterday's scars bring me to you
a beacon, when I'm feeling blue
you offer me a different view
as you guide me down your avenue
while you whisper in the night:

"breathe, breathe in the air
don't be afraid to care"

you know it's easier to say than do
still you champion me to see it through
touched by your glow, hope springs anew
I grow stronger with each rendezvous
as your words make my soul take flight:

"breathe, breathe in the air
don't be afraid to care"

as dawn breaks, the glory of promises imbue
such a colorful display, so much to pursue
you wink at me as if to say "I knew"
and I know you've set me on a path that's true
as your mantra carries me beyond your moonlight:

"breathe, breathe in the air
don't be afraid to care."

Lost in Space

Lost in the space between what could have been, and what was
I was color-blind to the red flags
I only saw you waving me in
and we danced like wild things

I was your Nancy
and you were my drug
I knew you would be the death of me
but you were a habit I couldn't kick

Oh, the subtly of words
and the intensity of a gaze
love is just another kind of drug
and I was living on it's roller-coaster high
until you sought another supplier

You loved, on the surface
while I loved with my heart
you were led by desire
while I - yes, I too was led by desire

But you would have begged to differ
oh, you would have begged

Now there is one less drug to seduce me

But I am the one left behind
the track marks on my heart make me weary
and I struggle with the need to fill them up

You know what they say about old habits
I'm just not sure which of us died the hardest.

Under the New Year's Moon

~ Under the New Year's Moon ~

Ethereal keeper of dreams
(realized, and destined still)
you're all about the timing, it seems
I rest my fate upon your will

your solace I seek, resting within a mystic midnight trance
a soul yearning in quiet hope
whispering wishes upon stars for the chance

hope gently takes my hand
as the moon shines bright
and the stars form a band
all is right, it's our dance tonight

but while you sate me with your spell
I know our dance will end with morning's light
bathe me in faith - that I carry it well
through all the tomorrows within your sight

the clock strums a melody, purging another year in time
may my heart travel peacefully with you
leaving shattered pieces of yesterday behind

the pressure and adventure of living mount
we all need another soul (or two) to cling to
showing us everything, every moment count
I raise my glass on this moonlit night to you.

The Color of Adventure

Dressed in pink, she said "hello."
He said "my name is Kai.
I don't like pink, and I don't remember you."

She just smiled and twirled and said
"hey, don't be such a surly boy
hey, you're such a pretty boy
you and I could rule the world."

More like 'rue' he thought in his head
but he couldn't look away
instead her looked her in the eye
and asked her "what's your name?"

"What's in a name" she laughed out loud
"call me what you like.
Just take my hand and follow me
adventure awaits, if you're not afraid."

He folded his arms across his chest
and said "I'm not afraid of you."
But his defiance was just an act
he knew he wouldn't walk away.

She fluffed her skirt and inched closer
"you don't trust me," she said with a pout.
"But I can make you believe
kiss me and you will see how important I am."

Her lips touched his, he didn't back away
and he knew his life would never be the same
as she whispered in his ear:
"welcome to my world."
